Coaching For Creative Professionals
I believe in artists, the arts, creative pursuits and the desire to live a life doing what you love. For many art professionals the creating part is easy, it's the business side of things that can be mysterious.
As a coach, I mentor & guide artists and independent professionals in the tools needed to reach their target audience, clarify their goals, gain perspective, understand the importance of brand, and marketing, as well as understand the importance of websites, social media networking and SEO.
Why Filio
As a student in art school I discovered how difficult it can be to write and discuss topics around art work, creative motives and have the writing skills necessary to pitch an idea. I also learned that, just because I finished art school it didn't mean I was ready to approach galleries and successfully pitch proposals. Some artists are, but many struggle to find their footing once the support network of friends, faculty and studio space disappears and you're left to your own defences.
Once I graduated I made it my mission to become involved in the art industry from the administrative side. I wanted to learn how a gallery operated and take the mystery out of the art industry from the perspective of operations and management. As an art programmer and gallery curator, I became aware of the many challenges and misconceptions creative professionals have about the art industry. Understanding the needs of commercial, non-profit galleries, art patrons and customers are paramount to your success. Using the right tools that are effective to your style and goals will get you to where you want to go faster.

Finding the Right Formula for You
It is this mix of being an artist trained in the academic system and working in the non-profit sector behind a desk, writing for grants, promoting exhibits, providing educational programs and selling art, that has given me the opportunity to pass on what I have learned from so many others. Let's start!
As an artist, I explore work with elements of ritual implied through form. I consider what function an object serves, as well as our connection to objects and how that plays out in rituals of collections and expression of beliefs.
